FAQ
Short Term Mission Trips

Why do you invest in short term trips?
Invest is a good word for it, because the returns are beneficial on a number of levels. The benefit for the host missionary and their ministry is a prime reason for making these trips. We hope to encourage them and provide skills/labor/resources during the trip that they would not otherwise have.
The benefits for the participants are tremendous, as well. These trips provide a new perspective on the world and God's working in it. It provides opportunities for ministry, learning, fellowship, and renewal.
The benefit to GCC is that we have seen how the growth of individuals instensifies the "mission-mindedness" of GCC as a whole. We become more in touch with our missionaries, God's heart for the world, and our involvement in this mission. And very importantly, it is often through short-term trips that we have seen God call people from our congregation to long-term service in a foreign field.
How do I sign up for a trip?
You can fill out a trip application ONLINE, sign up at the Missions Table in the main hallway at GCC, or email us to get the process started.
Do I need a Passport?
You will need a passport if you are flying anywhere outside of the US. It is a good idea to go ahead and get the process started ASAP if you want to go on a trip. They are good for 10 years, so they aren't going to expire anytime soon.

Usually through a mixture of personal finances, sponsorships from friends and family, and through church support. Our policy allows 1/3 from each of those sources, when in accordance with our guidelines. Please read our STM trip support policy:

Who should go on a trip?
Just about anybody could find a trip that suits their giftedness/ability, interests, budget, and calendar. We have had people of all ages go on mission trips. Each year our trips will vary. Look for an opportunity that fits you and get on board!
*If mission trips are not your "cup of tea" or you can't physically go, don't feel bad! We need people to support trip participants through prayer and finances, too!
